Handle Material: Ray skin + Hard wood. Tsuba Material: High Quality Brass. 1.26 inch/3.2 cm.Package weight : 2.0 kg. 0.91 inch/2.3 cm. The blade is hand-made in traditional Japanese craftsmanship way. It is hand-forged, hand-polished and hand-sharpened by our experienced smith. The blade is made of black folded steel and has folded 12 times to create the 4096 layers to increase the flexibility and hardness of the blade and a distinct texture is left on the blade as a result of the repeated folding during the process. The visible tenuous undulating grain on the blade was resulted from folded repeatedly during forging. The Kissaki shape of the blade tip is Chu-kissaki. Clay was used to thinly cover the edge of blade and thicker layer cover the rest of the blade. This leads to relatively quicker cooling of the blade during quenching, producing a hard edge and softer back.
The hamon on the blade was the result of quenching and tempering. This blade has been hand polished with multiple grade sharpen stone by Japanese method, which made the surface of the blade like a mirror, the more importance is that the blade was polished by HAZUYA which is a very thin Uchigumori stone fixed with paper, Hazuya is a specific stone to bring up hamon, The stone is very fine and soft against the steel. The blade of this sword is completely finished with Hazuya. The work is done to get mirror-like surface on shinogi-ji and edge. The blade is in full-tang which greatly enhances the strength of the whole sword. The blade is strong enough to cut a thick tree and sharp enough to slice paper. This tsuba (guard) of the sword is made of High Quality Brass with two Copper Seppas to put on each side of it (spacer securing it). The Habaki (blade collar) is of brass composition. This Tsuka is made of hard wood, wrapped with genuine ray skin, and tied with.
In the traditional wrap style. The Fuchi (sleeve) and Kashira (buttcap) on the tsuka are made of brass with matching Menuki on each side as an ornament, two Mekumgi (peg) are nailed to secure the Tang of the sword. Sword can be disassembled by picking up the two Mekugi (peg). This saya(sheath) of the sword is hard wooden, with piece of ray skin, and lacquered superior paint to highly gloss the surface of it.
The Sage-O is tied around the Kurikaka (knob) of the saya, the Koiguchi(scabbard mouth) and Kojiri(scabbard tip) has been hardened. The sword is fully functioanl and battle ready sword!!!!!
